Terms of sale

The terms that apply when you buy a Snowbird board from snowbirdpower.com, including how an order is accepted, shipping, duties, returns, warranty, safe use, and the licences on the firmware and libraries.

Updated 6 October 2026

These terms apply to every purchase from snowbirdpower.com. The seller is Snowbird Power Systems, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. By placing an order you agree to them. Please read the safety section carefully, because the boards charge lithium cells and the way you set them up matters.

Who may buy

Anyone 18 or older with a shipping address in Canada or the United States. We do not ship anywhere else yet. Wholesale and reseller orders are handled by email and invoice, not through the cart; write to [email protected].

Prices and currency

All prices are in Canadian dollars. The price shown on the product page is the price at checkout. Shipping, duties on US orders, and tax are added at checkout and shown before you pay. We may change prices at any time; a change never affects an order already placed.

How an order is placed and accepted

  1. You add boards to the cart and go to checkout.
  2. Checkout is hosted by Stripe. You enter your address, choose a shipping option, and pay by card or wallet. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
  3. When Stripe confirms payment, we create the order and send a confirmation email. The order is accepted when that confirmation email is sent. Until then we may decline the order and refund any payment, for example if stock ran out between the cart and the payment.
  4. We ship within two business days and email the tracking number.

There are no accounts. To check an order later, use the order-lookup page with your order number and the email on the order.

Availability and pre-orders

We sell only boards that are in stock. There are no pre-orders and no deposits. If a product page says "notify me", that is a mailing-list signup, not a reservation.

Shipping and risk of loss

We ship by Canada Post, tracked services only, from British Columbia. The flat rates by destination and weight are on the shipping page. Risk of loss passes to you when the parcel is delivered. If tracking shows the parcel lost or it arrives damaged, tell us within 14 days and we will replace it or refund it.

Duties on US orders

US orders are shipped delivered duty paid. The duty and brokerage are collected at checkout as part of the US shipping option, so there is no bill at the door. The amount is shown before you pay.

Taxes

GST/HST and BC PST are calculated and collected at checkout through Stripe Tax where Snowbird Power Systems is registered. No US sales tax is collected.

Returns and warranty

Unused boards in their original packaging may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund. Defective boards are covered by a 12-month limited warranty. Both are described in full on the shipping and returns and warranty pages, and those pages form part of these terms. Refunds go through Stripe to the original payment method.

Safe and intended use

Snowbird boards are battery charging and power management modules for developers. They ship without a cell. You are responsible for the cell you connect and for setting the board up correctly:

  • Use only the chemistries listed on the product page, and set the chemistry jumper to match the cell before connecting it. A board with the jumper set for one chemistry and a cell of another is outside the warranty and may damage the cell.
  • Stay within the published ratings for input power, charge current, and output current.
  • Use cells with a built-in thermistor or connect one, so temperature-gated charging can work.
  • Keep the board and the cell away from water, conductive debris, and heat.
  • Read the safety documentation before first use.

The boards are not designed, tested or certified for life-safety, medical, aviation, automotive safety, or any use where failure could cause injury. Do not use them that way.

Limitation of liability

Beyond the warranty and your rights under consumer protection law, which these terms do not reduce, Snowbird Power Systems is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from a board, including damage to a cell, a host device or a project, or loss of data. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the price paid for the board.

Firmware, libraries and design files

The supervisor firmware is released under the Apache License 2.0. The Arduino, C and MicroPython libraries are released under the MIT License. Where hardware design files are published, they are released under the CERN Open Hardware Licence, Permissive variant (CERN-OHL-P). Each licence is in the corresponding repository. Nothing in these terms narrows those licences.

The Snowbird name and logo are trademarks of Snowbird Power Systems. Feather is a trademark of Adafruit Industries; Qwiic is a trademark of SparkFun Electronics. Their use here is to describe compatibility.

Safety incidents

If a board is involved in an incident that caused, or could have caused, injury or property damage, please tell us at once through the incident form. We are required to report such incidents to Health Canada within two days of learning of them, and your report helps us meet that duty.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are resolved in the courts of British Columbia, except where consumer protection law lets you bring a claim where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. An order is governed by the terms in force when it was placed.
