Company
Built in Kelowna, for things that live outside.
Snowbird Power Systems is a small hardware company in British Columbia. We design the boards, write the firmware, measure everything, and answer the email ourselves.
Snowbird started with a solar sensor that died every February. The panel was fine, the radio was fine, the code was fine. The cell was simply too cold to charge for six weeks, and the cheap charger board kept trying anyway.
The fix was not another charger board. It was a power module that knows what a battery is: what chemistry it is, how cold it is, how much is left, and when to leave it alone. One that protects a raw cell so you can use the cheapest capacity there is. One that runs the load from the panel while the battery waits for the sun to warm it. One that tells your code what is going on, in one register map, in whichever language you write.
Every number on this site is a measurement we made on the bench or in the field, and every board ships from here with its pinout card and its compliance insert. The design files, the firmware and the libraries are open.
What we are not
We do not sell cells, and we will not bundle them. We do not sell anything that touches mains. We do not take pre-orders. If a board is on the site, it is on the shelf.
